With the turning of every new year I, like many people, am generally haunted by two things. First being the new-formed spare tire around the waist (or in my case tires), and the second being the brevity of the last 12 months. Time is like going down a hill in one of those Radio Flyer wagons, remember those? At first you just can't get it to go fast enough, as you move the tires back and forth with that large metal handle trying to wiggle yourself into gravity's strong arm (roughly the 10s-20s). And it is just about as soon as you hit that perfect cruising speed (lets say about 21-22 years old) that you start realizing you are actually losing control, that you actually never had control, and the only choices at this point are to try and stop - which will never work and end in disaster - or buck' up and enjoy the crazy ride.
Ahh indeed, just as those old folks say - time flies.
I have taken so many pictures since the last post that instead of one theme, I'll form it as more of a "Best Of" of these last two months.
Every year after Christmas, the men in my family join a hunt with some good friends in Camanche Hills, CA. I have reverted to shooting more from the camera than the gun (ya know, so others can have a chance). Here are a few of my favs...
This next set is from a day trip I took with some friends in Marin County- such an incredibly beautiful part of California.
This first picture may list up there with one of my favorite photographic moments i've ever had.
Due to road construction, we had to take a detour through a residential area to make it to the coast. As we came around one of the corners of this neighborhood, I spotted some deer on top of a beautiful stone landing - it looked like a moment out of a fairytale or something! I stopped the car in the road and ran to grab these shots...
This next set is from an anniversary shoot. The wife (pictured below) staged a beautiful surprise evening for her husband to celebrate their 37 years of marriage. She fashioned a tent filled with pictures and momentos of their 37 years together - so rad, here is a taste...
Spent a few days with family in Tahoe in the scenic snow and cold. The pictures of the train tracks are the same spot at different times - the first at dusk, the second at 1 am - in order to get the right exposure I had to expose the shot for 30 seconds - was pumped on the outcome!
Just yesterday spent the afternoon at the National History Museum in LA. A friend of mine works there and so graciously granted me a pass in. This place is incredibly inspiring and lucky for me they let you take photos...
Thanks for stopping in,
